Shannonbridge Napoleonic Fortifications Walk


Enjoy a self-guided tour of the unique Napoleonic Fortifications located on the West bank of the River Shannon at Shannonbridge in the County of Roscommon. The tour of the fortifications are also offered as part of a package which involves a boat trip departing Shannonbridge to Clonmacnoise, access to Clonmacnoise with a guide, return boat trip to Shannonbridge where a guide will take you on a guided tour of the fortifications. Tea / coffee or lunch can be offered. Pre booking essential.

These Napoleonic Fortifications are considered unique in Ireland and the UK and form part of the mid-Shannon defences. The fortifications located in Shannonbridge are the most significant of these.
