County Roscommon Association, Boston

The County Roscommon Association, Boston is a non profit organisation registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Its purpose is to help perpetuate Irish culture focusing especially on County Roscommon and its people. Originally founded many years earlier, the Association was reorganised and revitalised in 1991. Throughout the year many and varied activities are held giving members and non members a chance to renew old acquaintances as well as make new ones. The first annual Dinner Dance was held in 1997. The current President is Richie Gormley. Mr Gormley whose ancestors hail from south Roscommon has a family home at Ballybrogan, Lecarrow.
He was elected the Lord Mayor of West Roxbury in 2012 and is central to many activities in the Boston area. He owns Gormley Funeral Home and is involved in all aspects of life in West Roxbury . He is the commander of West Roxbury V.F.W. Post 2902, and is the Sergeant-of-Arms for the Irish Social Club. He attends every veteran’s event
He is currently organising a trip to Ireland for the Gathering 2013.
